Visit Frillinghurst Wood to see Surrey at its finest

Nestled snugly into the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 3km north-east of  Haslemere, Frillinghurst Woods provides a pocket of peace for you to escape your everyday. Head out on the circular path for a reflective walk and make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the range of wildlife that call the wood home. 

Frillinghurst Wood is home to a variety of birds that benefit from its mixed habitats including lesser spotted woodpecker, marsh tit, nightjar and woodlark. There are many different bat species within the woodland, as well as butterflies and moths. The wood white is a special butterfly that’s found here - it depends on the open spaces along the edges of the footpaths that criss-cross through the wood.

Walking is the perfect way to get some fresh air and explore some of the area's most beautiful landscapes.

There is an unsurfaced circular path that runs through the wood.

Located near Farnham and set above a large heathland clearing, Bourne Wood offers impressive views over the surrounding pine forests.

The sand soil provides a good walking surface, and the many public footpaths give great access to the woodland, where you can take in the beautiful natural scenery.

Make it a day for everyone to remember with a walk at Alice Holt Forest, enjoy fresh woodland air and a warm drink in the cafe. We have lots of different trails and exciting play areas for you to discover, including our unique Gruffalo Sculptures, and other characters from the story - see who you can find in the deep, dark woods!

The area on Combe Hill has a dedicated bike park, which is open to mountain bikers, please visit this website for more information and to book in advance.

The woodland offers a network of open paths and countryside views that local people can explore on foot. 

We are sorry but you cannot BBQ in our forests at this time. This is to help prevent forest fires.

Located within the South Downs National Park, West Harting down offers a network of paths and trails, making it very popular with dog walkers and horse-riders.  

The higher ground in the north of West Harting Down provides significant views out to the Solent and the Isle of Wight.
