Volunteering at Manchester Community Woodlands

What can I do?

Practical Volunteer

We have a number of outdoor volunteering opportunities available. We welcome anyone who has a passion for the forest, who is happy to participate in practical tasks and who is at least 18 years old.

Tasks may include clearing vegetation, removing old fences, collecting tree tubes, litter picking and pruning trees – all of which help to enhance the woodlands for our many visitors, as well as improve habitats for the wildlife living in the woods.

No experience is needed as all tools and training are provided. Suitable clothing and footwear for the weather and outdoor tasks is recommended. So why not join us for a day of fresh air and practical work? You will get to meet new people, learn new skills using hand tools and give a bit back to your local woodland.

What are you waiting for? Register your interest now and we can tell you more about what is available near to you. When registering your interest please enter any Forestry England woodland local to you in question 1 and we will keep you informed of the events taking place in any of the North West Community Woodlands.

If you do not live in the Manchester area but would still like to volunteer, please get in touch as we are keen to get groups set up in other areas including Merseyside and Wigan.

Corporate groups

At the core of any business is its people. We understand the importance of a well-connected and happy team. Volunteering together is a great way to get to know you colleagues whilst learning different skills and giving something back to your local environment.  Corporate volunteering sessions incur a charge to cover costs.
